The Whatever It Takes campaign uses doodles and artworks created and signed by hundreds of influential people from all around the globe. They come from the fields of entertainment, politics, music, science, fashion and sports. I’ve got the list open in front of me. I’m just going to randomly point my finger at the screen and type the resulting names as I go along. Here we go: Lucy Liu, Hilary Duff, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L Jackson, and Sir Roger Moore, KBE. Gee, that’s a pretty high powered random sampling!
Each Whatever it Takes iPhone 4 case raises funds for various charity organisations and is packed in environmentally friendly package. The cases themselves are form fitting, high-grade polycarbonate shells, which don’t bulk out your iPhone and manage to leave you feel pretty protected. And design-wise they are also pretty eye-catching – Dave Grohl and David Bowie’s designs both stood out for me.
The unit that we’re looking at today is a reddish-pinkish-orangey (the color seems to change under different light!) “Premium Tough Shield”. It comes with a doodle of a girl sitting in yoga-like repose and is accompanied by a signature from the artist, American fashion designer Donna Karan, of DKNY fame. Oh, and to satisfy my curiosity, I Googled and it’s pronounced as you would say the name”Karen”, by the way.
Though if the phone does drop, the Whatever it Takes iPhone 4 case frankly doesn’t look like it will be as protective as its name implies. Lastly, while the overall construction is good, the case does emit a slight *skweek* sound if you grip your fingers too tightly around your phone.
Charity tech products are not new (the RED line is well established) but the “Whatever it Takes” approach is a little different. They gathered 660 leaders: royalty, Nobel Peace Prize laureates, business leaders, actors, musicians, artists, fashion designers, sportsmen and sportswomen and writers, all pledging to do ‘whatever it takes’ to address issues of the 21st Century.
